Abstract :
The fast block-matching motion estimation has been widely used in some low bit-rate video compression applications, owing to its simplicity and effectiveness. How ever, there are several problems with it, which are mainly caused by the employment of fixed block size. In this paper, a new algorithm for fast block- matching motion estimation based on tree-structured block partition is proposed which applies the variable block size (VBS) techniques in the block search. Simulation results show that, the algorithm block- searching efficiency as well as to improve the precision of block-searching.
