Abstract
The aim of the paper is to demonstrate how the principles developed in the field of mobile robotics are implemented nowadays in advanced road transport systems. Due to remarkable progress in electronics it is possible to shift the impact from passive safety measures to active systems that are able to foresee potentially dangerous situations and to help the driver to avoid them
