Abstract
On the basis of a suitable plane-wave angular spectrum representation of the electromagnetic field, the vectorial properties of paraxial beams propagating in anisotropic metamaterials (AMMs) are studied. It is found that the transverse field varies when the polarization or the distribution of initial electromagnetic field is changed. While the longitudinal component only dependent on the distribution of the input field. The validity of these analytical results are checked by means of extensive numerical simulations.
