An investigation of magnetic fields induced from underwater acoustic sources

This paper discusses the mathematical formulation concerning the calculation of magnetic fields induced from underwater acoustic monopole sources. The acoustic and magnetic field problems are solved using the finite element (FE) method. In both cases an analytical formulation is also investigated. An axisymmetric problem consisting of a monopole source submerged in the ocean is discussed. The magnetic field plots enable the characterisation of the acoustic source. The results obtained using the FE and the analytical solution are in good agreement
