Abstract :
In this paper, a preload device for PZT actuators using permanent magnets was designed. An analytical method was used to determine an optimal magnet geometry that produces required preloading force and stiffness characteristics. Then the analytical results were compared with numerical analysis using FEM. Finally experimental results were presented.
