Abstract :
Fe3O4 magnetofluid was prepared by means of a reduction in situ and coordination transformation method. The infrared spectra showed the existence of complex. Coordination stability constant and coordination number was 1.12times104 and 2.05, respectively. The X-ray diffraction results indicated that all the ferric oxide obtained was Fe3O4. The transmission electron microscope image illustrated the diameters of magnetic particles were about 10nm. The diameters of particles were estimated by the X-ray diffraction pattern. It could be found that the diameter enlarged while the ratio of ferric ion to polyvinyl alcohol was increased. The calculation of diameters showed that the particles were smaller than 24nm, which meant they were superparamagnetic. Coordination could obviously reduce the size of magnetic particles and the coordination between ferric ion and polyvinyl alcohol finished within 2hrs
