FIRST: a flexible interactive remote sensing tool

An image data visualisation tool has been developed at NLR. The concept behind this visualisation tool is a user definable multiple visualisation window environment with each window having its own set of parameters like zoom factor or look-up table. The menu items and parameter windows are organised in accordance to their function and appear at predefined locations on the screen. No limits are set with respect to the size of the image file and the image data type. Besides basic image visualisation functions like look-up table operations, the interactive element in a number of basic remote sensing applications like the selection of training areas, is incorporated. FIRST has been developed at NLR in close corporation with ICT and supported by the Netherlands Agency for Aerospace Programmes (NIVR)
