Abstract :
A procedure to estimate the vertical profile of stratospheric aerosols is proposed to orient the coming ADEOS/ILAS measurements. The authors algorithms consist mainly of two processes. One is the vertical inversion which derives vertical profiles of total extinction from ILAS transmittance data. The other is the decomposition process from the obtained total extinction into each component of the atmospheric constituents. In this process, the retrieved pressure profiles from ILAS oxygen A-band analysis are used to simplify the aerosol retrieval. It is found that the authgors´ treatment provides the improved simulated results based on the AFGL-model
