Abstract :
With the successful launch and operation of ERS-1 and J-ERS-1 SARs a new era of continuous spaceborne remote sensing of the Earth is now open and we are in a position to use fully the synergy provided by the different frequencies of the SAR instruments. This paper summarizes the work performed using ERS-1 data, which started in July 1991 during the ERS-1 commissioning phase and was followed by some additional work performed during the operational phase of the satellite. This work got a natural extension with the experiments that have been set up by the authors as the Principal Investigator for the J-ERS-1 system verification program started in July 1992 and extending to 1993. An overview and preliminary results are presented
