Abstract
The vehicular ad hoc network (VANET) is an emerging new technology and is a promising approach for the intelligent transportation system (ITS). In comfort and safety applications, a vehicle may need to query data from another vehicle via multihop communications. Data routing in the VANET environment suffers from frequent disconnections due to high mobility and sparsely connected networks. Data delivery using greedy forwarding has become a powerful means in the VANET. In this paper, we propose a series of data forwarding strategies that are based on the position prediction of neighboring and destination nodes. We verify the proposed strategies in simulated environments that model real streets and vehicle movements.
