Abstract
Power device packaging has slowly evolved from the earliest hermetic devices. Many packaging concepts have been announced in the last decade, few have stood the tests of time and high volume production. A power multi-chip module (PMCM) is introduced which has significant tenure in consumer electronic applications and has proved equally applicable in general switch-mode power supply designs. The design of such modules involves a complete systems discipline hitherto un-addressed by power device manufacturers. A single ended quasi-resonant flyback approach is described along with an application-specific PMCM solution
