Abstract :
WiMAX OFDMA downlink subframes have a 2D channel time structure. The resource allocation from this 2D structure incurs the extra control overheads. It hurt the network performance. The existing method is designing the scheduler in MAC layer and burst allocator in physical layer. Here the overhead reduction is limited. In this paper we proposed the necessity of codesigning (i.e) both scheduler and burst allocator are combined. For that we proposed a cross-layer framework under PUSC model. This framework consists of two tier priority based scheduler and bucket based allocator. By combining these both scheduler and burst allocator, it solves the problem of resource allocation for data traffic. Then the scheduler utilize the frame space and reduce IE overheads with the help of bucket based burst allocator. The burst allocator satisfy traffic requirements such as delay constraints, traffic scheduling with the help of scheduler. Through analysis, the cross-layer framework significantly increases network throughput, maintains long-term fairness, alleviates real-time traffic delays, and enhances frame utilization.
