Abstract :
By growing the mixed sesquioxide crystal Tm(1%):LuScO3 by the Heat-Exchanger Method (HEM), the spectroscopic properties of Tm:Lu2O3 and Tm:Sc2O3 could be combined. This has previously been done with Ytterbium doped sesquioxides. In mode-locked operation a pulse length reduction from 227 fs (Yb:Sc2O3) to 125 fs could be obtained, which can be attributed to the broadening of the emission spectrum.
