Abstract :
The benefit of IMS can be realized only when "True Convergence" becomes the vision for communication service providers (CSP) and is taken forward with a holistic approach. True Convergence essentially is convergence of devices, networks as well as services. With devices being introduced in market place based on open standard OS and services moving forward on client server model, single device supporting a portfolio of services is possible with required client(s) software residing on it. IMS brings the advantage of network convergence coupled with capability to orchestrate disparate service resources like customer profile, presence information, media service resources and multiple application features residing on application servers. Service convergence will bring "service blending" which is possible only when a unified inter working back office function is in place. It will open up a huge Pandora box of innovative services which can be created on the fly and ensures zero touch provisioning through a variety of customer interfaces like web portal, IVR, Customer Care, etc. Emergence of a truly converged eco system will offer any service any time anywhere - a seamless lifestyle experience to the end subscriber. This paper intends to bring about developments in the area of service logic engine and experience of the authors in proof of concept for a representative service scenario.
