Abstract :
The paper presented here the results obtained with the diode pumping of a Pr3+:BaY2F8 (Pr:BYF) crystal which emits at 607 nm. This first realization of a single frequency diode-pumped Pr-doped laser emitting in the orange opens the possibility to build compact and efficient laser sources and fill the gap in this spectrum range where no laser diode is available.
