Abstract :
AC dissipation current waveforms of polyethylene and polypropylene films show nonlinear distortion in AC high-field region. This non-linearity was supposed to be related to the behavior of AC space charge formation in the sample. However, the measurement of AC space charge distribution is not so easy due to the resolution limit of the space charge measurement. We examined space charge distribution in biaxially oriented polypropylene (BOPP) film under AC high-field from numerical analysis. As a consequence, it is suggested that injected carriers from the electrodes are trapped near the interface region, and bring about the space charge evolution. This would take place periodically under AC voltage, repeating space charge formation and extinction
