Abstract
Area calculation is one of the most important aspects of wheat production estimation. The conventional methods of area calculation have some defects in information representation which affect classification accuracy. In order to deal with the question, the authors apply the concepts of fuzzy mathematics to the field of area calculation, use the fuzzy information representation method to represent remote sensing information. Experiments show that the represention method is valid. A set of valid area calculation methods is presented and the method is used to calculate the wheat area in a Landsat TM image of Huang, Huai, Hai district, China
