Abstract :
When a new data pattern is written on top of the old information, the interferences induced by the old data pattern at /spl omega//sub 1/, could be present in the spectrum of the new data pattern. Usually an excellent overwrite (OVW) performance has to be guaranteed for two cases, namely, the case where a low linear density background pattern is overwritten by a high linear density data pattern, and the reverse case. Recently Philip Steiner has shown some interesting reverse overwrite (ROVW) phenomena on perpendicular recording scheme. Here, a general model is proposed for describing reverse overwrite spectra.
