Abstract :
Load frequency control has always been a promising field for researchers over the past couple of decades. When load perturbations takes place anywhere in any area of the system, it will affect the frequencies of other areas too. In the recent years, the soft computing techniques such as artificial neural network (ANN), Fuzzy systems and evolutionary algorithms are used to develop an intelligent load frequency controller. The present work deals with the development of a non-linear controller using a polar fuzzy controller to overcome the problems of ANN and conventional fuzzy system. The performance of load frequency controller using polar fuzzy logic has been studied with different operating conditions and results have been compared with conventional PI controller.
