Abstract :
In this paper, we analyze the performance of adaptive blind algorithms i.e. Kaiser Constant Modulus Algorithm (KCMA), Hamming CMA (HAMCMA) with CMA in a cellular communication system using digital modulation technique. These blind algorithms are implemented on digital signal processor of adaptive antenna to make it smart and change weights of the antenna array system dynamically so that signal to noise ratio (SNR) of the desired signal is optimized. The simulation results revealed that KCMA and HAMCMA provide 87.5% and 71.88% reduction in mean square error (MSE), 7.35 dB and 2.29 dB antenna gain enhancement, 20.54% and 9.99% reduction in bit error rate (BER) respectively over that of CMA. However, convergence rate of HAMCMA is almost equal to that of CMA whereas KCMA has more convergence rate as compared to CMA. This tradeoff can be compromised for KCMA keeping optimization in gain, MSE and BER. Therefore, KCMA and HAMCMA adaptive algorithms give a cost effective solution to a communication system for enhancing capacity and range as compared to CMA.
