Abstract
A set of seven types of LSI chips for 2.4 Gb/s fiber optic transmission systems has been realized using the silicon bipolar process. All the circuits required for an optical transmitter and an optical receiver are integrated into the LSIs. These LSI chips are mounted with chip resistors and chip capacitors in newly developed packages which include input/output strip lines in six conductor layers. In a 2.4 Gb/s transmission experiment using the seven types of LSI chips, a receiver sensitivity of better than -33 dBm (BER=10-11 ) was achieved
