Abstract
FePt ordered alloy has been studied extensively for use as a high-density magnetic recording medium because of its large magnetic anisotropy energy. In this paper, we have found that the reduction of the ordering temperature still depends on the content of residual oxygen in the FePtCu film. Change in the coercivity by the sputtering target as well as the base pressure of the sputtering chamber is discussed from the viewpoint of the oxygen content.
