Abstract :
In order to investigate the land and coastal area of Japan, a specially designed database of AVHRR data is developed. Daytime observation data by the AVHRR with 5 channels are used. The database contains 5-channels of AVHRR data with enough information for atmospheric correction, such as the satellite zenith angles. The data are precisely geocoded using a template matching method. The data size is reduced by eliminating the ocean. Using the database, the air temperature, coastal sea temperature, vegetation, snow coverage etc. are investigated
