Abstract :
Adaptive matched field processing (AMFP) provides excellent sidelobe suppression capability for multiple sources with a perfect knowledge of the ocean environment. However, AMFP is very sensitive to environment mismatch. So many robust AMFP approaches have been studied to deal with the mismatch problem. This paper presents another robust matched field processing techniques based on a plane wave post beamformer interference canceller (PIC), which is essentially a single-channel noise canceller. The PIC processor estimates the interference by processing the output of a single beam steered in the interference direction. Then, the estimated noise is subtracted from another beam steered in the target direction. The two beams are referred to as the interference beam and the target beam, respectively. We generalize the PIC from plane-wave direction estimation to matched field localization with mismatch and multiple sources environment. The performance of three MFP beamformers, which have different weighting vectors for interference beam, are compared by simulation
