Abstract :
Recently introduced methods to compute the capacity of a constrained code over a noisy channel are used to estimate the potential improvement in performance when the error-control code (ECC) is designed in conjunction with the constraint, as compared with an average ECC for the channel. This constraint gain is computed for various (d, k)-RLL constraints over the binary-input AWGN channel.
