Abstract :
A design of a planar microstrip array for 12 GHz satellite broadcasts reception is presented. The basic research involves the development of analytical and highly accurate and efficient electromagnetic simulation tools which will lead to user friendly-software. A three-dimensional spectral-domain approach is used to analyze the entire structure (array) and substructures (feed network and antenna elements). In this manner, a unified theory and software can analyze circuits, antennas and the scattering from antennas. Special attention is focused on the characterization of various microstrip discontinuities so as to exploit novel concepts for antenna and integrated circuit applications
