Abstract
The aim of this paper is to investigate basic performances of the proposed two-axis actively positioned bearingless disk motor, intended for a use as a compact contamination-free centrifugal pump. In this bearingless disk motor, two-axis radial motion is actively positioned. On the other hand, axial and tilting motions of the rotor are passively stabilized. The rotor is magnetically suspended and is stably driven at the rated rotational speed of 3000 r/min with a radial vibration amplitude of 20 μm. The test results demonstrate the feasibility of the bearingless disk motor for an application to the centrifugal pump.
