Abstract :
We present a new method to obtain the covering radius of codes and also a new method to prove quasi-perfection in codes. Divisibility results are combined with the techniques of Ax-Katz and Moreno-Moreno to prove that certain codes are quasi-perfect. This answers a problem posed by Cohen-Honkala-Litsyn-Lobstein in the book covering radius for BCH codes. Also we obtain the covering radius for many new classes of codes.
