Abstract :
A structural analysis of the representation of terrain objects in GIS leads to the identification of several types of object dynamics. Remote sensing can play an important role in object monitoring; a prerequisite is that the analysis of remotely sensed (RS) data are embedded in a GIS environment. Object knowledge can then support the extraction of information from RS data. Several examples of how this information can be used are explained
