Abstract
In 4G systems, multimedia data will be streamed over various wireless networks to a multitude of portable devices. Hence, a large number of users will soon be able to access multimedia data at anytime, and from anywhere. However there exists a gap between the user requirements and the available systems. In this paper we present across layer technique called Interactive Video Switching (IVS) that is designed to interactively switch between different coding techniques using Adaptive MIMO Switching (AMS). Mobile WiMAX supports a full range of multiple-input multiple-output (MIMO) techniques including space time block coding (STBC), spatial multiplexing (SM) and Eigenbeam forming (EB). The system adaptively selects appropriate MIMO techniques to support the quality of video desired by the user. The simulations are done according to IEEE 802.16 standards.
