Abstract :
Airborne SAR data collected over agricultural fields with different field crops and over a small forest with pure and mixed stands of deciduous and coniferous trees were analyzed on their statistical properties. The calibrated backscattering coefficients were calculated field by field and compared at two frequencies. On the same field basis the entropy of the amplitude distribution and the normalized texture variation of the intensity distribution were evaluated as a potential measure to discriminate different terrain types
