  • Abstract
Energy conservation is a very powerful test for validating scattering and emissivity calculations from rough surfaces, such as the surface of the oceans. This problem is addressed for a perfectly conducting very rough surface with small curvatures, for which the Kirchhoff approximation applies. The reasons why energy conservation is not fulfilled are analyzed and discussed from a physical point of view
