The Advanced Spaceborne Thermal Emission and Reflection Radiometer (ASTER) is one of the research facility instruments of EOS-AM1, which is the first polar-orbiting platform of the EOS (Earth Observing System) program. The ASTER instrument is being built by MITI (Ministry of International Trade and Industry), Japan, based on the requirements of ASTER science team.
