Abstract :
Cross-scanning satellite radiometers such as AVHRR/2 look over the underlying surface at different viewing angles, θv. The algorithms for retrieval of the surface and atmospheric parameters should overtly account for θv to provide the result independent of the variable observation geometry. The authors propose a statistical procedure which allows one to check whether or not the last one is the case. It is used to test the NOAA/AVHRR Multi-Channel Sea Surface Temperature MCSST
