Abstract :
The authors have developed a new data-analysis method for estimating vegetation cover rate and for quantifying the content of soil material content on the basis of a new optical model-“the iso-grain model”. This method has been applied to a part of the Helvetia region, Arizona, USA, by using airborne remote sensing data. Both the vegetation cover rate and the material composition obtained by this method agreed well with field survey data
