  • Abstract
Demand Response (DR) is one of several most important ingredients of the emerging smart grid paradigm. Considerable developments in the real-time telemetry of demand-side systems allow independent system operators to use reserves provided by DR in ancillary service markets. There are lots of solutions of wired or wireless communication technologies, and the consumer can not always have the choice which one is better in China. In this paper, a new communication infrastructure is proposed, in which multi-mode electronic device is presented to assist demand-side management, by which load response can be implemented and further secondary development can be easier done. This multi-mode device include WIA, McWiLL and TD-LTE, it will enable stable wireless communication by selecting an appropriate media and controlling data transmission, in conformity with data on the field strength of the available communication media, and the attributes of the incoming content. It can also download communication and application software by wireless and then can easily access new services without purchasing additional new equipment, even if services/communication system is modified or newly introduced.
