Abstract
Operating rooms are considered as the most valuable resource in hospital, which is important for the service quality to patients and the efficiency improvement in hospital operations management. This paper studies the week scheduling of operating rooms integrating other limited key resources including ICU beds and the workload of surgeons. A mixed integer program model has been proposed to optimize the operating room schedule. The results showed the utilization of each operating room has been balanced and maximized. Along with the sensitivity analysis, this model can be used to assist hospital managers in operating room decision making.
