Abstract
An improved two dimensional grid finite difference time domain method for efficient analysis of the axial symmetry cylindrical structures, excited with non-axially symmetric modes, is presented. By fixing the number of cycles of the azimuthal variations, the fields of higher order hybrid (HE/sub n/) modes can be easily obtained. The method is verified by comparison with results obtained by other methods. The resonant frequencies and unloaded Q of several resonators and support configurations are presented.
