Abstract
Analysis of the trends and achievements in airborne flight safety shows that we can advance a lot in effective means for detecting areas of hazardous meteorological phenomena (HMP) by complex utilisation of information about HMP taking into consideration the detection pecularities of differnt sources of danger precisely: turbulence, lightning, hail, icing, heavy precipitation and so on. Different physical principles and combinations of information-carrying parameters could be used for the remote detection of HMP. Their complex usage increases detection accuracy of HMP areas. The aim of the paper is to discuss some methods and results of clouds probing using dual-polarisation radar for the recognition of hail areas dangerous for aircraft.
