Abstract :
We present an experience of use of geographic information system (GIS) to visualise environmental information. Our experience suggests that digital terrain models may represent a common base to provide consistent information derived combining different data. Some considerations about the use of realistic visualisation (rendering) versus semantic representation based on geometric reasoning are provided
