Abstract :
We propose a dynamic management scheme for a terminal platform embedded on a device. A terminal platform makes it possible to provide the same services on multiple types of devices by unifying different aspects of the execution environment, such as hardware and OS, on each device. However, the platform is embedded on a device, so once a device is released to the market, it is impossible to add new features to the platform, or to upgrade it. Therefore, we introduce a dynamic management technology of OMA1 DM2 to dynamically manage the platform after it has been embedded on a device. In order to deploy OMA DM, we encapsulate our terminal platform by the functional module and define standardized interfaces between these modules. Then, we define management objects based on OMA DM SCOMO3 for dynamic management of the platform, so that an OMA DM client can dynamically control our platform. Finally, we verify this idea by implementing an IMS service module as a component of our platform, and by adding it dynamically to our platform through an OMA DM client.
