Abstract :
In microwave and millimetric radiometry, hot and cold blackbody targets of known temperature and emissivity are used to calibrate radiometers. The calibration process involves estimating two slowly time-varying system parameters (gain and offset) from noisy observations of these targets. The purpose of this paper is to discuss the application of optimal filters to the calibration of radiometers suitable for terrain mapping. The Wiener filter is found to be suitable
