Abstract :
The author presents a draft guide to the practice of system engineering which is offered to system engineers as an aid to their professional practice and to organisations as an aid to system engineering management. The guide provides a definition of system engineering and states the aim, objectives an activities essential to good system engineering practice. Implicit in the guide is concern for improving quality, promoting integrity, managing risk and complexity, and providing the support for the needs and expectations of creating organisations, their engineers, customers and users. The guide is therefore an evolving standard against which projects and practices may be compared. A satisfactory comparison results when the spirit of each and every activity is satisfied. An unsatisfactory comparison results when any of the activities are not addressed or not addressed adequately
