Abstract :
It is shown that the advent of the microprocessor has had a significant impact on the latest generation of adjustable speed DC drives. The basic drive architecture is reviewed, and the extended functions offered by the standard microprocessor-controlled DC drive are discussed. Some of the most commonly used control functions are described
