Abstract :
ERS-1 SAR data of the northern Alpine frontland of Munich are assessed for glacial deposit mapping. The texture features of various areal geomorphic units are analyzed using grey level co-occurrence matrix (GLCM). Both image textures and standard statistics have important significance for geomorphic discrimination. A combination of those can improve results. Glacial deposits are interpreted on the image. The results indicate that much information on glacial deposits can be extracted from ERS-1 SAR data
