Abstract :
There is a whole plethora of management advice on how businesses should be run or could be improved in order to achieve success. Indeed, so many different views have arisen that there is a fashionable side to this advice with different management theories in vogue from time to time. It is not the authors´s intention simply to add another theory to an already overlong list. He aims to show how the fundamental principles of systems engineering already encapsulate all that is needed to undertake a successful new venture. With some references to the Channel Tunnel project, he proposes to give examples of how systems engineering both was and was not applied, with the consequent results
