Abstract :
This paper distinguishes between multi robot formation and multi robot flocking. A flocking algorithm is studied with decreasing mutual proximity between the robots, simulations which demonstrates the transition from robot formation to flocking. We present a novel approach to study the onset of swarm behaviour. Quantitative analysis confirms that swarm behaviour is conclusively identified with a critical distance of approach, lc.
