Abstract :
The second version of the High Resolution Infrared Radiation Sounder (HIRS/2) is an Earth-viewing sensor on board the NOAA series satellites. Spectral data is acquired in twenty spectral bands (channel) ranging from the visible (0.70 micrometer) to IR (15.00 micrometer), and its resolution is 17.4km (nadir) to about 60km (edge). The main mission of this sensor is to monitor vertical profiles of temperature and moisture in the global atmosphere. In this report, the authors describe a user friendly multiple-dimension processing system to classify HIRS/2 data for further scientific studies, based on UNIX workstation
