  • Abstract
    Video-on-demand (VoD) service allows users to select and watch video and clip content over a network as part of an interactive television system. VoD services either ldquostreamrdquo content, allowing viewing in real time, or ldquodownloadrdquo it in which the program is brought in its entirety to a set-top box (STB) before viewing starts. In order to reduce the viewerpsilas waiting time for a large number of requests, an efficient NVoD approach for hot video is a broadcasting method that can theoretically serve an unlimited number of clients simultaneously within a bounded user delay by keeping the number of channels independent of the number of clients. However, previous proposed broadcasting architectures are required to manage a number of segments for a video, frequency of channel hopping and usage of many channels at the same time. To solve these problems, this paper proposes the reverse fast staggered broadcasting (RFSB) method. The RFBS substantially reduces complexity of VoD system and high bandwidth efficiency both viewerpsilas waiting time and clientpsilas buffer requirement.
