Abstract
Taking the emission requirements from IEC 60601-1-2 as starting point, a detailed analysis of the shielding requirements of an examination room for a 3T Magnetic Resonance Imaging scanner has been made. A 3D Finite Element model of scanner and shielding room has been built and the influence of slits on the shielding performance has been investigated. Comparison between simulations of shielding effectiveness according to the IEEE Std 299 near-field method and simulations of shielding effectiveness according to the IEC 60601-1-2 far-field method shows excellent agreement. In addition we have simulated near-field measurements with magnetic loop antennas.
